What is your DCEC engine warranty?

This article is an introduction to the warranty and precautions.

For the engine warranty, usually enjoy 12 months or 1000 running hours according to which comes first. But we also have the following tips for the warranty.

Correct operation and regular maintenance are important factors to ensure the normal operation of the engine. Please keep this in mind. The company provides engine quality assurance services according to the following criteria during the engine quality assurance period.

  1. If the equipment factory has stipulated the quality assurance period, it shall be implemented according to the quality assurance period of the equipment factory. If the quality guarantee period of the equipment factory exceeds the quality guarantee period stipulated by Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., it shall be implemented in accordance with the quality guarantee period of Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd.
  2. The quality assurance period refers to the running time and use time of the equipment, whichever expires first. The running time refers to the accumulated running time after the device leaves the factory, and the usage time refers to the calculation time of the device from the date when the user purchases the device.
  3.  If the timer of the equipment is damaged, or the usage time obviously does not match the running time displayed, it will be calculated as 12 hours of operation per day from the date of purchase of the equipment.
  4. The quality guarantee period is not affected by the change of the engine owner, or the equipment stops running for various reasons and other factors.
  5. If new parts need to be replaced due to the quality assurance service, the quality assurance period is the same as the engine quality assurance period, that is, the cumulative calculation is based on the running time and use time of the equipment, and will end with the end of the engine quality assurance period.
  6. The company bears the cost of oil, antifreeze and antirust fluid, oil filter, fuel filter, oil-water separator, gasket (sealing ring) and other items that cannot be reused due to quality assurance services.

Behavior caused by any of the following reasons indicates that your engine has exceeded the scope of quality assurance services, please remember.

  1. The nameplate of the engine and the certificate of conformity issued by the company do not match the real object or are altered.
  2. Failure to properly use and standardize the engine in accordance with the requirements of the “Dongfeng Cummins Engine Operation and Maintenance Manual” and “Quality Assurance Manual”; The service provider conducts regular maintenance; the oil, coolant, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, oil-water separator recommended in the “Dongfeng Cummins Engine Operation and Maintenance Manual” and “Quality Assurance Manual” are not used .
  3. During the quality assurance period, failures that are not handled by units authorized by Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd.; failures caused by changing the original structural state of the engine and equipment without the permission of the company.
  4. When the engine is repaired, the failure caused by the use of genuine parts that are not approved by the company.
  5.  If the engine fails or the hidden fault is not eliminated in time and continues to run, the enlarged secondary defect and the related parts are damaged.
  6. The engine is used at overspeed; the engine exceeds the quality guarantee period; the engine has been in stock at the equipment manufacturer (OEM) for more than 24 months.
  7.  Non-engine defects caused by external factors such as collision and impact, burning damage, scratches and falling off; engine damage caused by irresistible factors (such as floods, lightning, storms, hail, etc.).
  8. The normal noise, vibration, wear, aging and other losses of the engine.
  9. Blocking or refusing service providers to conduct normal inspection, analysis and appraisal of the engine, resulting in delay losses.
  10. Other repairs not due to material, design, or manufacture, or engine failure or damage due to coolant or lubricating oil problems.
  11. Engine failure or damage caused by the user’s own adjustment of the fuel injection pump.

 

Cummins Responsibilities

During The Base Engine Warranty

  • Cummins will pay for all parts and labor needed to repair the damage to the Engine resulting from a Warrantable Failure when performed during normal business hours. All labor costs
    will be paid in accordance with Cummins published Standard Repair Time guidelines.
  • Cummins will pay for the lubricating oil, antifreeze, filter elements and other maintenance items that are not reusable due to the Warrantable Failure.
  • Cummins will pay reasonable travel expenses for mechanics to travel to and from the Engine site, including meals, mileage and lodging when the repair is performed at the site of the failure.
  • Cummins will pay reasonable labor costs for Engine removal and reinstallation when necessary to repair a Warrantable Failure.

During The Extended Major Components Warranty

  • Cummins will pay for the repair or, at its option, replacement of the defective Covered Part and any Covered Part damaged by a Warrantable Failure of the defective Covered Part.

Owner Responsibilities

During The Base Engine Warranty

  • Owner is responsible for the cost of lubricating oil, antifreeze, filter elements and other maintenance items replaced during Warranty repairs unless such items are not reusable due to the Warrantable Failure.

During The Extended Major Components Warranty

  • Owner is responsible for the cost of all labor needed to repair the Engine, including the labor cost for Engine removal and reinstallation. When Cummins elects to repair a part instead of replacing it, the Owner is not responsible for the labor needed to repair the part.
  • Owner is responsible for the cost of all parts required for the repair except for the defective Covered Part and any Covered Part damaged by a Warrantable Failure of the defective Covered Part.
  • Owner is responsible for the cost of lubricating oil, antifreeze, filter elements and other maintenance items replaced during repair of a Warrantable Failure.

During The Extended Major Components Warranty

  • Owner is responsible for the cost of all labor needed to repair the Engine, including the labor cost for Engine removal and reinstallation. When Cummins elects to repair a part instead of replacing it, the Owner is not responsible for the labor needed to repair the part.
  • Owner is responsible for the cost of all parts required for the repair except for the defective Covered Part and any Covered Part damaged by a Warrantable Failure of the defective Covered Part.
